Limited access to this private, members only club is available only to those with lodging reservations at either The American Club® or Inn on Woodlake with a purchased entry  pass. River Wildlife is not open to the general public. Advance reservations are required for dining and activities.

The 500-acre wilderness preserve is maintained in a natural state to preserve native vegetation and wildlife.  Many miles of woodland trails and the meandering Sheboygan River provide abundant opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Self-Guided River Fishing
Some of the best fishing in the state is available in the fall and spring as trout and salmon make their way upstream on the Sheboygan River. Anglers must provide their own fishing gear and applicable licenses. Maps of the property are available at the resorts front desk areas or at River Wildlife Lodge. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members as well as the purchase of an entry pass for access to the river.

Trapshooting (Year-round) Reservations available from 8am–3pm
Clay targets hurtle away at 45-degree angles and varying heights offering a valuable warm–up before a pheasant hunt or providing novice/beginners with a great opportunity to learn basic shooting skills. Trapshooting can also be a fun, competitive activity for larger groups. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members prior to making reservations for trapshooting.

5-Stand Shooting (Year-round) Reservations available from 8am–3pm
A compact 5-stand course provides an invigorating workout for the experienced shooter. Each station simulates different wild game as it’s being flushed: “running rabbit,” “springing teal,” etc.. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members prior to making reservations for 5-stand shooting.

Campsites  Complimentary and available to members of River Wildlife only.
Four primitive and rustic wilderness campsites have been established along the trails for picnics or overnight use. Call the Lodge to make reservations for a campsite.

Tomczyk Cabin (Year-round) Reservations available daily. Available to members of River Wildlife only.
This secluded, rustic (void of plumbing, electricity and water!) historical log cabin with wood-burning sauna and old-fashioned cook stove is located next to a pond and can sleep up to six people. It can only be reached by a half mile of hiking or cross-country skiing – perfect for a weekend away from it all.

Miles of winding trails of varied terrain are maintained in a natural state for the preservation of native vegetation. Maps of the trails are provided. Self-Guided Bird Hike (April–August) at River Wildlife
Enjoy a one-mile, self-guided hike along the meandering Sheboygan River. Bird identification field guide and binoculars are provided, and a picnic lunch can be arranged by advance reservation. Reservations available daily 8am–3pm. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members as well as the purchase of an entry pass for access to the hike.

Self-Guided Canoe/Kayak Rentals (May through August) Not intended for young children. Reservations available from 8am1:30pm
Enjoy an exhilarating adventure paddling down the rambling Sheboygan River in one of our two-person canoes or single-person kayaks. River Wildlife personnel will transport you upstream to the launch site to start your journey. This invigorating trip takes about 2½ hours, includes portaging around two dams, and requires average physical stamina. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members prior to making reservations for canoeing or kayaking.

Guided Horseback Rides (May through October) Ages 12 and older. Reservations available at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm. 
Explore the natural beauty of River Wildlife’s woodlands, meadows and valleys on one of our well-trained horses. Our guide will escort you on a 1-hour trail ride that will linger in your memory for seasons to come. There are 4 horses available and experience is not required. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members prior to making reservations for horseback riding.

Youth Archery (April–August) Ages 812 with Adult Supervision. Reservations available from 8am3pm.
This is target practice like you remember from summer camp. Youth-sized, recurve bows are provided along with paper “bullseye” targets. A mesh backdrop keeps the arrows from wandering out of recovery range. Reservations available daily 8am–3pm. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members prior to making reservations for youth archery.

Youth Air Rifles (Available Year Round-weather permitting) Ages 812 with Adult Supervision. Reservations available from 8am3pm.

Pheasant Hunting (Mid-September–Early Spring, weather permitting) Reservations available at 9am or 1pm.
One of the Midwest’s premier shooting clubs offers upland bird hunting in a variety of terrains. Our three hunt fields are planted with native prairie grasses and annual cover crops. Situated along the river and woods, they provide a challenging workout for both hunters and their dogs. All hunters must be experienced. Expert guides, dogs and equipment are available. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members as well as the purchase of a hunting pass prior to making reservations.

Self-Guided Cross-Country Skiing (Weather-permitting)
Head off on miles of ski trails winding through woodlands and meadows. Rental equipment is available at The American Club for a nominal fee; limited availability.

Self-Guided Snowshoeing (Weather permitting)
Experience Kohler's winter wonderland on trails located at the Sports Core or River Wildlife. Snowshoe rental is available at the Sports Core ($15 for 4 hours, $25 for up to 8 hours); limited availability. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake, as well as the purchase of an entry pass, are required for access to River Wildlife’s trail system.
