Recreation activities abound in and around The Village of Kohler. With so many opportunities available it may be difficult to choose what to do during your next visit. Below, you’ll find even more choices to add to your list.
Cross Country Skiing
At River Wildlife
Winter is truly a special time at River Wildlife as the snow-covered landscape provides a pristine backdrop for invigorating outdoor adventures. Head off on over 25 miles of groomed ski trails winding through wooded vistas and rolling meadows. Rental equipment is available through the concierge or the front desk at The American Club. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members, as well as the purchase of an entry pass for access to the trail system.
Ice Skating
At The Shops at Woodlake Kohler
Enjoy the beauty of the Kohler winter landscape and a day of fun on the frozen surface of Wood Lake. Skater amenities include benches at lake's edge, rubber mats for safety, early evening lighting and music. Skaters are welcome to bring their own skates or they may rent a pair from the Front Desk of Inn on Woodlake. For general skating information, please call The Shops at Woodlake, 920-459-1713. Ice Fishing
With the whipping winter winds comes an abundance of frozen inland lakes and ponds in the Sheboygan County area. Crystal Lake, Elkhart Lake, Sheboygan Marsh and Little Elkhart Lake are the sites for the January "Four Lakes Fisheree."*

Snowshoeing
At River Wildlife
Experience Kohler's winter wonderland on the snowshoe trails at Sports Core and River Wildlife. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake, as well as the purchase of an entry pass are required for access to the River Wildlife trails. Rental equipment is available at the Sports Core for $15; limited availability.
Upland Bird Hunting
Mid September-Early Spring at River Wildlife
One of the Midwest’s premiere shooting clubs offers pheasant and partridge hunting in a variety of different terrain. Our 3 hunt fields are planted with native prairie grasses and annual cover crops. Since they are situated along the river and woods, they provide a challenging workout for both hunters and their dogs. Expert guides, dogs and equipment are available. Reservations are available daily at 9am & 1pm. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members, as well as the purchase of a hunting pass prior to making reservations for a field.
Trap Shooting
Year Round at River Wildlife
Valuable warm–up before a pheasant hunt or provides the novice/beginner with basic shooting skills. Trap shooting can also be a fun, competitive activity for larger groups. On your command targets hurtle away at 45 degree angles and varying heights. Reservations available daily from 8am-3pm. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members prior to making reservations for trap shooting.
Five-Stand Sporting Clays
Year Round at River Wildlife
A compact 5-station course provides an invigorating workout for the experienced shooter. Each station simulates different wild game as its being flushed–“running rabbit”, “springing teal,” etc. Reservations available daily from 8am-3pm. Lodging reservations at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake are required for non-members prior to making reservations for five.
Carriage Rides
Celebrate that special occasion or just enjoy the open air with a horse-drawn carriage ride through the winding streets of The Village of Kohler. Rides are available year-round. Call the concierge at (920) 457-8000, ext. 55180 to make an appointment.
